How NOVECTRA Can Help You Make the Most of Your Solar Energy
The Dutch net metering scheme (salderingsregeling) for solar panels will end on 1 January 2027. For homeowners and businesses with solar panels, this is an important change. But it does not mean that solar energy is becoming less valuable.
It means that the way you use your solar energy is becoming more important.
Until now, the Dutch net metering scheme has allowed solar panel owners to offset electricity fed back into the grid against electricity consumed at another time. From 2027, this will no longer be possible.
So what is the solution?
At NOVECTRA, we believe the answer is not simply to install more solar panels. The future lies in creating a smarter, integrated energy system in which you generate, use, store and manage your own energy as efficiently as possible.
From solar panels and home batteries to EV charging, electric heating, PVT systems and electrical installations, NOVECTRA can help you prepare for the energy landscape beyond 2027.

What happens when net metering ends in 2027?
From 1 January 2027, electricity generated by your solar panels can no longer simply be offset against the electricity you consume from the grid.
You can still feed surplus electricity back into the grid and receive a feed-in payment from your energy supplier. However, the financial benefit of exporting electricity will generally be lower than the value of using that electricity yourself. Until 2030, the minimum feed-in compensation is set at 50% of the basic electricity tariff, excluding taxes.
This creates a clear incentive: Use more of your own solar energy instead of sending it back to the grid.
And this is exactly where smart energy solutions can make a difference.
From generating energy to managing energy
Your solar panels may produce most of their electricity around midday, while your household may consume most of its electricity in the morning and evening.
Without net metering, this mismatch becomes more important.
Imagine your solar panels generate 10 kWh during the day, but you only use 3 kWh directly. The remaining 7 kWh is exported to the grid.
After 2027, that exported electricity will receive a separate feed-in payment rather than being offset against your later consumption.
Combine technologies and build an integrated energy system.
NOVECTRA’s solution:
Rather than looking at solar panels, batteries, EV chargers and heating systems as separate products, NOVECTRA looks at how they can work together.
The goal is simple:
- Generate more of your own energy
- Use more of your own energy
- Store surplus energy
- Reduce unnecessary grid consumption

Preparing for 2027 starts today
Before recommending additional solar panels, a (home)battery, EV charger, electric heating, Smart Energy Management (EMS) or another technology, it is important to understand:
- Your current electricity consumption
- Your daily consumption pattern
- Your existing solar installation
- Your future energy requirements
- Your heating system
- Your EV usage
- Your available roof space
- Your electrical installation
- Your plans for further electrification
The best solution is the one that fits the way you actually use energy.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Dutch net metering scheme (salderingsregeling) ends on 1 January 2027. From that date, electricity exported to the grid can no longer be offset against electricity consumed at another time.
Your solar panels will continue to generate electricity. You can still use the electricity yourself or export surplus electricity to the grid for a feed-in payment.
After net metering ends, electricity you use directly yourself can be more valuable than electricity you export to the grid. Increasing self-consumption can therefore improve the value you get from your solar installation.
A home battery can store surplus solar electricity and make it available later, for example in the evening. Whether a battery is financially attractive depends on your individual energy consumption, solar generation, energy contract and system configuration.
Yes. An EV charger can be integrated into your energy system so that your electric vehicle can make use of your own solar generation.
Yes. NOVECTRA provides a range of sustainable energy solutions, including solar panels, home batteries, EV charging, electric heating, PVT panels, electrical installations and sedum roofs.
Yes. Rather than looking at each technology in isolation, NOVECTRA can assess how different solutions can work together based on the property’s energy consumption, existing installation and future requirements.
